D-I-E Task _Ti Nguyen

Describe
Here I am now, sitting in my own room in my adopted parents’ house, describing how lucky I am to have this great honor. I am a fresh-man and have just been in Finland for 3 months. In a party welcoming new students at Tankkari 2, which was held by Kokkola Methodist Church, my friends and I had a chance to meet my most wonderful second family – Teija and Timo. Teija said that she loves Vietnamese food and wants to taste, so she invited us all to her house. We then had a wonderful evening, singing and eating and sharing Vietnamese and Finnish culture. And there came one day, we were having a Sunday breakfast together, they asked me if I wanted to come and live with them. I bet you know the answer J
Interprete
My adopted mother usually tell me that Timo and her are not typical Finns. Typical Finns do not usually invite people home (especially foreigners). Typical Finns are ones that like staying at home, enjoying their own hobbies (watching TV for example). They are shy and do not want to have much contact with people. However, Finns who are in churches are totally different. They are much friendlier and more open-minded. They are eager to talk and get to know each others, about their lives, their cultures… Now, when I am already their daughter, living with them under the same roof, I realize that there is a huge problem between parents and children in Finland. Children, when they are teenager or become adult, they do not keep much contact or express their love and feeling for their parents, which makes  parents really disappointed. Timo’s son lives in Tampere, he has promised to visit ever now and then, but still he has not. Another reason for this problem might be because of the Finnish tradition of being independence. They think that a Finn must learn to live by his own, should not lean on his parents. Visiting parents is not a compulsory thing if he does not want to. And when parents are old, they can go to the State’s Nursing Home, their children can come to visit but do not have to take care of them.
Evaluate
Consequently, When I live with Timo and Teija, in a very Asian way, loving and caring, they are very happy, they always say that they are very thankful for me entering their lives. And for me, I can not use words to express my love and gratefulness to them, I just know that I love them with all my heart and soul :)
