On
the 8 th of October I went with some friends to the Centria Night Music. It was
a little time ago, but I remember that evening very good. The music night
started with the Finnish band “En höstvisa, trad”, which brought with their
instruments violin, harmonium, guitar and an acoustic bass guitar a certain and
very interesting classic sound on the stage. The melody in combination with the
folk songs was catchy. Honestly, I didn´t understand anything, but it was nice
to listen to them. Afterwards, there was a short opera performance, which I
couldn´t really enjoy. I had the feeling that Finnish is not the most suitable
language for opera. Then a self-composed song by a guy with a guitar came in
our ears what was - even in Finnish – incredible. I couldn´t really understand
what he was singing about, but at the end I asked a Finnish student and she
said that it was about a “berry girl” which is a myth at was enough to know for
me, because of the next program highlight. Colin, an exchange student and
fellow student, entered the stage with the band “Soft Potatoes” and henceforth
I knew that it becomes English. With a piano, drums, electric bass and a guitar
it got some kind of modern and varied. Finally, a band performed a few covers
of English songs. Especially the girl with the brass instrument caught my eye.
That´s maybe the reason why I forgot the name of this band.
All in all, it was nice and pleasant night and a great experience for a
foreigner as me!
