Music Task

On October 8th, I attended Centria Night Music, which was held by Centria students and teachers. It was a really awesome experience because I had the chance to enjoy music in both English and Finnish, but mostly by Finnish.

The opening was performed by a band named "En höstvisa, trad" ( I think so) There were 5 people, each one played an instrument such as violin, harmonium, guitar, acoustic bass guitar,... And after that, there was an Opera performance, which was pretty impressive. The Opera was accompanied by a pianist.

They together sang some Finnish songs and 5 Finnish folk songs. My favourite was "Hilu hilu". At first I thought Finnish wasn't for Opera but I was so wrong, it sounded very nice.
Next, there was a guy who sang a song-composed song with his guitar. The song was about Kalevala, a Finnish myth. It had an elegant melody and sweet feelings, which made it stand out from the rest.

The first part ended at 7PM and I came back for the forth part, which was more like an international segment. The first band to perform was "Soft Potatoes", which sounds really cute and Finnish. There were 4 core members and 1 special guest, Colin Harvey (the American exchange student). They also played instruments such as grand piano, acoustic guitar, electric bass and drums. Three English songs were performed but with some changes in the genres so they all sounded interestingly different.

I did enjoy Centria Night Music very much. I will definitely participate again if I have the chance next time!
